Heat transfer fluid systems are used to maintain asphalt at specific temperatures at bulk terminals which store and process asphalt. Roofing material plants, which use asphalt as a raw material for shingle production, require heat transfer fluid systems for heating the asphalt storage and material transfer system components. Barges that transfer asphalt maintain fluidity of their cargo with an onboard heat transfer fluid system.
