Speciality heat-sensitive polymer manufacturing

Polymer processing requires precise control of temperature only enabled by the use of vapor-phase condensing heat transfer media. For those particularly sensitive to high temperatures, the portfolio of Eastman Therminol® heat transfer fluids offers a vapor-phase fluid with a boiling point nearly 15°C (30°F) below that of traditional DP:DPO heat transfer fluid. This fluid provides excellent heat transfer performance up to 330°C (625°F), and it is possible to safely use it within typical extruders and peripheral jacketed equipment within their pressure ratings where precise temperature control results in uniform and precise condensing temperature of the heat transfer fluid. This results in optimal consistency of the polymer chain length and its desired properties.

Therminol VP3 heat transfer fluid is a synthetic heat transfer fluid that was specially developed to allow vapor phase heat transfer at lower temperatures than are practical with traditional diphenyl oxide (DPO)/biphenyl constituted fluids like Therminol VP-1.
