Eastman begins Therminol® 55 operations in Brasil
Eastman Chemical Company recently commissioned a new operations line for Therminol® 55 heat transfer fluid at its Scandiflex manufacturing site in Mauá, Brasil. The plant, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eastman, provides local production and storage and reinforces the company’s commitment not only in Brasil but also in South America.

​Valspar / Isocoat invests over R$200,000 in a new heat transfer fluid
Eastman Therminol ® 62 heat transfer fluid replaces mineral oil at Valspar.
Sao Paulo, January, 2014 – Valspar´s subsidiary Isocoat has invested more than R$200,000 in its factory at Araçariguama/SP on changing to a new heat transfer fluid, to improve both performance and safety. Instead of mineral oil, the company is now using a synthetic oil: Therminol 62. Therminol is the registered trademark of a heat transfer fluid which has been sold for more than 50 years and is well known and trusted by users throughout the world.

KINGSPORT, Tenn., November 12, 2013 - Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE:EMN) today announced the opening of a new specialty fluids testing lab for Eastman Therminol® heat transfer fluids and Eastman Skydrol® aviation hydraulic fluids in Singapore.   The new lab will service customers in the Asia Pacific region, providing local technical support and in-service fluids testing that is critical in high performance systems using these fluids.

 

Eastman Encourages Postgraduate Research at the University of São Paulo
A postgraduate research project on the ​​energy absorption characteristics of ammonia / water in refrigeration cycles uses Therminol ® 59 - a heat transfer fluid produced by Eastman.

The plant expansion, located in Newport, Wales, will be a new manufacturing facility capable of producing Therminol 66 and other biphenyl based co-products. The facility is expected to be operational in the second half of 2014 and will increase Eastman’s total capacity for Therminol 66 by more than 50 percent.

Solutia's Therminol® Heat Transfer Fluid Selected for New Hybrid Solar Power Plants in Morocco and Algeria
Solutia Inc. announced today that it will be supplying Therminol® VP-1 synthetic heat transfer fluid to a new 470 MW hybrid solar plant in Ain-Ben-Mathar, Morocco and a 170 MW hybrid solar plant in Hassi R’Mel, Algeria. Both plants have 20 MW each of power output capacity from solar thermal oil-based parabolic trough collector fields and are being constructed by Abener.

Solutia Inc. announced that PTT Poly Canada Inc. has selected Solutia's Therminol heat transfer fluid for use in its plant in Montreal. The $100 million facility is the world's first large-scale continuous plant to commercially produce polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) thermoplastic, and will use proprietary technology provided by Shell Chemicals and Zimmer AG. The facility will rely upon Therminol 66 and Therminol VP-1 heat transfer fluids to meet demanding high-temperature requirements, both in a liquid-phase and vaporphase operating environment.
